Introduction to vehicle adaptations and disability awareness for Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) and driving examiners

The day includes training people with disabilities to drive with vehicle adaptations and insight into supporting those with disabilities.

Opportunity to test drive a wide range of vehicle adaptions.

Open to ADIs and DVSA driving examiners.

  • The course is needed due to the national shortage of trained ADI’s with disability awareness – recently discussed on the BBC.
  • Training opportunities provided in local area
  • Networking for local ADIs and examiners
  • Opportunity for individual ADIs and their local Mobility Centre to build a relationship
  • If agreed, ADIs will be placed on a list of ADIs offering specialist tuition
  • Increased confidence and knowledge when dealing with individual clients needs
  • Specialist skills for driving

Training outcomes:

Increase knowledge of:

  • driving with medical conditions and teaching people to drive with physical and cognitive health.
  • driving licence coding and car access needs
