Training updates

New 2026 dates added.

The National Back Exchange recommends that everyone who has attended a moving and handling training course then attends an annual update.

A one-day course (9:30 am – 4.00 pm) £155 per person.

The course offers up-to-date content to reflect current best practice in moving and handling. The content is updated every year and is designed to refresh and consolidate existing knowledge and provide delegates with new information and skills.

  • Updates on legal responsibilities and risk assessment considerations
  • Discussions about teaching techniques, including tips and tricks for successful training strategies
  • Opportunities for demonstration and practice of a wide variety of moving and handling techniques, both core techniques and adaptations for those problem-solving scenarios.
  • Time to practice using a wide variety of up-to-date equipment to manage moving and handling situations.
  • Opportunities for delegates to discuss their own issues, in a supportive and positive environment.

Julia is a Registered Nurse and Moving & Handling Practitioner.  She has over 30 years’ experience in moving and handling people in health, social care and education. She is an international conference speaker and published author, writing chapters for both HOP6 & 7 and was Chair of National Back Exchange for 3 years.

In Memoriam of Simon Love

MCSP HCPC, Advanced & Honorary Member NBE

Simon was a respected Physiotherapist and Moving & Handling Practitioner with a wealth of experience. He was an international conference speaker, published author, and served as Chair of the National Back Exchange for six years. His contributions were recently recognised with an Honorary Membership for his outstanding work in the field. Simon’s legacy of dedication and expertise continues to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed.
